Rent increase applications at four Portland buildings
The board decided four rent increase applications totaling roughly 115 units, approving three and tabling one after tenant objections over unexplained legal and security costs. These decisions directly affect monthly rents for Portland tenants.
Rebuilt Pembroke Street units returning to rental market
The board confirmed the fire-damaged Pembroke Street triple-decker's owners met the conditions of their 2024 rent decision, with verified renovation costs under the 20% cap. Three renovated apartments can now be leased at or below the approved $3,293.89 base rent.
Rent increases on 54 units under the old ordinance
The Rent Board approved increases for 34 units at Spring Street and State Street and 20 units at Neal Street and Danforth Street under the old rent control rules. A tenant representative argued management fees — 70% of the State Street increase — lacked justification, but the board stuck with its past approach to those fees.
